Who doesn’t love bacon?  I could eat bacon with anything!  I love the smell, the texture and the taste!  So when I finally decided to go on a diet to lose some of the baby weight, I obviously picked a high protein diet to attain my weight loss goals.  Why not?  As long as I could still eat bacon, I figured I’d be OK!

There are many studies that have been conducted on the benefits of a high protein diet for weight loss. These studies agree with the fact that a high protein diet can help you lose weight. For a while now most of the emphasis has been on low carbohydrates diet as the best way to lose weight. Of course carbohydrates and fats are the most responsible for weight gain in any diet and a reduction of the same should lead to a reduction of weight. A high protein diet helps reduce body fat and maintain lean tissue because the fats will be burned to produce body fuel without the person on diet feeling constant hunger. It is also postulated that the high protein diet results in the production of lower levels of appetite-stimulating hormones thus reducing the appetite of dieters. There is a wide range of recommended protein intake in any diet. Anywhere between 10%-35% of total calorie intake is considered good. This translates to higher protein levels than the recommended dietary allowance of proteins in the diet of a normal, healthy adult.

A high protein diet for weight loss has been shown to improve glucose and insulin homeostasis. The amino acids from protein metabolism interact with glucose metabolism as carbon substrates. Proteins therefore stabilize blood glucose during non absorptive periods. Having a steady blood glucose level will reduce the urge to eat all the time. Lately, I’ve feeling a little frustrated with my weight.  I exercise, try to eat healthy food and can’t seem to lose any weight.  My problem is that diets make me hungry and I seem to crave sugary food.  I started looking for a product that would help me stop craving sugar.  Unfortunately, many products on the market contain caffeine or other substances that make your heart race.  Plus, I don’t like swallowing diet pills.

It’s always easier to buy for my kids because they usually tell me what they want. So this year my 5 year daughter want a Nintendo 3DS Metallic Pink. I thought that she might be a little young for this game, but I’m tired of listening to her fight with her sister who won’t lend her the Fischer-Price iXL that she got for her birthday.  After she lost her V-Tech MobiGo, I told her she needed to save money to get another one.  Since then, she saved about $50 and decided that she wants a 3DS instead.  So we decided to make-up the difference and get her this coveted video game console.  I don’t know if we’re making a good buying decision.  What do you think?

Ah, Black Friday! Quite frankly, I never bought in to the whole hype.  Since I’m mainly an online shopper, I prefer shopping from the comfort of my own home on Cyber Monday.  In the past, I didn’t feel like the deals were so amazing that I needed  to get my over-stuffed-with-turkey body out of bed in the middle of the night.

This year, I decided to do a little investigating to see if it’s worth it.  Since I love to shop on Amazon with my Amazon Prime membership, I’m going to compare some Black Friday prices to what’s available on Amazon.

Looking at Kmart’s Black Friday add scan, I see the X-Box 360 $ GB console for $199. Stay in bed and buy the Xbox 360 4GB Console now on Amazon for the same price! The TomTom XXL 550M 5-Inch Widescreen Portable GPS Navigator  is currently retailing for $104.18 on Amazon.  The Office Depot Black Friday scan is advertising the same model for $89.99.  So I can save $15 there.

The Sears Black Friday add scan is advertising the Razor Riprider 360 Caster Trike for $84.99. Buy it now on Amazon for $71.99.  Sears is also advertising the Canon EOS Rebel T3 18-55IS 12.2 Megapixel Digital SLR Camera for $479.99. Buy it now on Amazon for $488.99.  I know it’s a little cheaper at Sears, but is it worth getting into a fight in a Sear parking lot over a parking spot?

Let’s take a look at Toy-R-Us’s Black Friday scan, where Black Friday actually start at 9 pm Thanksgiving Day. It currently retails on Amazon for $37.99.  You can get it for $24.99 at Toy-R-Us.  tm! AirBrush Nail Bar will be only $14.99 at Toys-R-Us and it retails for $39.99 at Amazon.  What about this Christmas’ “it” toy, the My Keepon Interactive Dancing Robot, which is currently advertised at Toy-R-Us for $34.99.  Amazon has it for $55.97.  OK, I see a trend here.  It might be worth it to get to Toys-R-Us by 9 pm to shop for toys.

A tablet is on top of my list this year.  The Best Buy Black Friday ad scan has the Asus – Eee Pad Transformer Tablet with 16GB Storage Memory for $249.99. Amazon has it advertised for $379.99.  So maybe I need to get out of bed for this one!  What about the Nintendo 3DS my daughter’s asking for?  Best Buy is advertising for $179.99 with the Super Mario bundle.    Game Stop has this model currently for $169.99, so for $10 more, I can get it with the game.  The LeapFrog LeapPad Explorer Learning Tablet is currently sold out on Amazon but Best Buy will have it on Black Friday for $99.99.  This is not really a deal since it normally retails for this price.

I found two stores that I might want to hit on Black Friday.  Toys-R-Us and Best Buy.  What about you?  Do you know of any other deals worth getting out of bed for?
